Spring in Tuscany, from a private villa

Spring may be Tuscany at its loveliest. The hills are still green before summer turns them gold, wisteria and roses climb the old walls, poppies scatter the wheat fields in May, and the back roads are quiet enough for cycling between hill towns. On the coast the beaches lie almost empty, and the walking in the hills of the Maremma is at its best.
