The villa
A 13th century country residence of a noble family, restored with photovoltaic panels and wood fired heating, inside a walled enclosure on the edge of Lucca. Cotto floors, original fireplaces, chandeliers, beamed ceilings and stone walls set the tone.
Inside
On the ground floor, a rustic kitchen opening onto a veranda, a dining room, a living room and a shower room. Two doubles on the first floor; three more on the second beside a living room with a statement chandelier. All five are en suite with sitting areas, the largest about 50 square metres.
Outside
Paths wind through flower gardens and an organic orchard to a 12 x 6 m saltwater pool with Roman steps, a hydromassage corner and a shallow basin. Two pavilions frame the deck, one for lounging, one for dining, and there is a helicopter landing area.
Location
In the countryside 6 km from Lucca, about ten minutes by car, with a supermarket 4 km away. Pisa airport is 41 km away, Pisa 25 km, Viareggio 36 km and Florence 80 km.
