The church of San Miniato al Monte, above Piazzale Michelangelo, offers one of the finest views of the city, quieter than the square below.
Across the river, artisan gilders, bookbinders and leatherworkers still work in the streets around Santo Spirito, and many welcome visitors.
Fiesole is reached by a short bus or taxi ride, and the Chianti vineyards within the hour: an easy escape from the city for two.

When is the best time for a honeymoon in Florence?
Late April to June and September to October bring warm days and long evenings. July and August are very hot; winter is quiet and romantic, with shorter days.
Can we stay just a few nights?
Many city apartments accept stays shorter than a week, particularly outside the peak months. We ask each owner about the minimum for your dates.
