On a hillside as steep as Ravello's, a pool is an engineering feat as much as a luxury. Level ground is scarce, so pools here are cut into terraces, set on cliff edges or tucked into old gardens, and each one frames the sea differently. From the water you may look down on the rooftops of Atrani and Minori, or out along the Gulf of Salerno.
Among the houses below, a 16 m pool sits on a sheer cliff within walking distance of the town. At Scala, a kidney shaped pool lies in a garden of orchard and vegetables, and another house pairs a 14 m pool with a 4,000 sqm park. Pools on the coast generally open in May and close in October. Heating, where available, may carry a supplement, so ask before you travel.
In July and August the best hours in the water are early morning and early evening, once the stone terraces have cooled.
Cliff edge pools are beautiful but not all are fenced. If you travel with small children, tell us and we will check each house.

Are the pools heated?
Some are, and some houses add a heated Jacuzzi or swim spa. Heating is most welcome in May and October. We confirm heating, and any supplement, with the owner when you enquire.
How far are these villas from the centre of Ravello?
Some are within walking distance of the piazza; others sit in Scala or on the slopes above Atrani, a short drive away. Remember that walking here usually means steps.
