Family villas in Amalfi, among the lemon groves
Amalfi works well for families because everything is close. The beach lies beside the harbour, boats leave from the quay, and the piazza below the cathedral, with its fountain, is a natural place for an evening ice cream. Beyond the town, paths climb into a valley of lemon groves and old paper mills, a short adventure for young legs.
The villas below give each generation its own corner. One has 12 frescoed bedrooms above the rooftops of Atrani, set among lemon orchards 400 m from the centre. A 17th century farmhouse on a clifftop has its own frescoed chapel. For beach days, one house has a private staircase of about 40 steps to Salicerchie beach, and a cliffside villa near Amalfi offers a shaded table for ten facing the sea, a hot tub and a terracotta pool deck.

Amalfi's main beach is next to the harbour and easy to reach. Atrani, a few minutes along the coast, has a small and sheltered one.
Summer ferries make a day on Capri possible from Amalfi harbour. Older children often love the crossing as much as the island.
Italian families rest in the early afternoon, and the coast follows suit. It is the moment for the pool, a nap or a long lunch outside.

Questions before you choose
What ages suit a villa holiday in Amalfi?
All ages, with some planning. Toddlers need care around steps and cliff edge pools, while teenagers enjoy boats, swimming and the evening life of the town. We check each house against your family's needs.
Can the villa provide cots and high chairs?
Many owners can, but equipment varies. List what you need in your enquiry, and we confirm with each house before you commit. Pools are usually open from May to October.
When should families book?
School holidays fill first, so enquire early for July and August. In high season stays are Saturday to Saturday. One request covers up to five villas, and we reply within one working day.
