San Casciano in Val di Pesa
The 15th century Machiavelli family estate where, by tradition, The Prince was written, with Brunelleschi's dome visible from the terrace.
The villa
A noble 15th century house on a cypress shaded hill, built for the Machiavelli family, within 700 acres of vineyards and over 600 olive trees. Restoration revealed Renaissance frescoes; the estate makes four wines and its own olive oil. Original art and furniture throughout.
Inside
Ten double suites, each with an en suite bathroom: four on the ground floor, six on the first, served by a lift. Living and dining rooms and a fully equipped kitchen. The spa has a marble indoor pool, sauna, steam room, three treatment rooms and a gym.
Outside
A garden with sculptures and an outdoor pool framed by sun loungers, beside a dining area under a pergola. From the terrace, the view reaches Brunelleschi's dome in Florence across the Chianti hills. Parking for about 100 cars.
