The villa
A 15th century fortress on a gentle hill, restored as a main house and guest house with travertine and terracotta floors, exposed beams, Carrara marble bathrooms and modern furniture. A chef cooks three dinners a week; continental breakfast and maid service six days a week.

Seven en suite doubles for 14. The main house: four bedrooms, one bathroom with freestanding tub, a Gaggenau kitchen with butler's pantry, a dining room with fireplace, a formal lounge, a TV room, a winter garden study and a wine cellar. The guest house: three doubles, living and dining rooms, kitchen, full size snooker room, steam room and Jacuzzi for six.
