Spring is the season for seeing Sicily rather than simply lying beside it. The hills are green, wild flowers cover the verges, and the scent of orange blossom drifts over the citrus groves of the east. It is comfortable weather for the Greek theatre in Siracusa, the Valley of the Temples at Agrigento and the baroque towns of Noto, Modica and Ragusa.
The villas below make a calm base for those days out. Near Siracusa, a house on a promontory in the Plemmirio reserve has three interlinked pools and its own sea access. Below Taormina, a path runs down to the beach. By late May the heated infinity pools at Fontane Bianche and Arenella become a real pleasure, and near Augusta an estate looks from Mount Etna to the sea.

What is the weather like in April and May?
Days are usually mild to warm, with cooler evenings and occasional rain in April. May is often settled and sunny. The sea warms slowly, so May is the earliest month most visitors swim.
Will the pool be open?
Pools are usually open from May to October, and some heated pools earlier. Tell us your dates and we confirm with each owner whether the pool will be ready.
