A Puglia summer from a masseria or seafront villa
Summer in Puglia is long, bright and unhurried. The heel of Italy has two seas, the Adriatic and the Ionian, and more coastline than any other mainland region, so there is always a cove or a stretch of flat rock within a short drive. Days start early, lunch is late, and the evening passeggiata in the white towns stretches towards midnight.
The 71 villas below cover the region from Fasano to the tip of Salento. You will find a contemporary seafront villa near Monopoli with direct access to the beach, a clifftop house above the Adriatic near Castro with a private path down to the rocks, and a masseria in eight hectares of centuries old olive groves near Savelletri.

The Adriatic side has rocky coves and clear, cooler water; the Ionian side has longer sandy beaches and shallows that warm quickly.
From noon until late afternoon the south slows down; locals swim in the morning, rest after lunch and return to the sea as the heat softens.
July and August are the busiest weeks of the year, when the best seafront houses are taken months ahead; enquiring in winter gives the widest choice.

Questions before you choose
How do we get to Puglia?
Bari and Brindisi airports both have direct flights from much of Europe. From Bari, Savelletri and Monopoli are under an hour by car; Brindisi is closer to Ostuni and Salento. A hire car is essential.
How long should we stay?
In July and August most villas rent for a week at least, Saturday to Saturday. Puglia is long, so two weeks, or a week in the Valle d'Itria and another in Salento, is worth considering.
How does the enquiry work?
