Positano, June to August

Summer in Positano, with a villa above the bay

Summer is when Positano is most fully itself. Every boat is out, the beach clubs of Spiaggia Grande and Fornillo are open, and the pastel houses stay lit long after dinner. The sea is at its warmest, and a private terrace becomes the room where most of the day is spent, from coffee at eight to a last glass under the stars.

The villas below answer the question every Positano visitor asks in July: how to reach the water without the crowds. Several have private lifts running down to a beach, others a stair or path to the sea and a pool of their own. You will also find apartments within the grounds of a 13th century tower, one of them a room inside the watchtower itself, with the bay directly below.

Long swims in warm water

By July the sea is usually around 25 °C, warm enough for long swims from a boat or from the rocks below the town.

Take the ferry, not the road

In summer the coast road is slow. Ferries link Positano with Amalfi, Salerno, Sorrento and Capri, and land right at the main beach.

Dine late, as locals do

Dinner rarely starts before nine. Spend the hot afternoon by the pool and walk down to town once the lanes have cooled.

Questions before you choose

How do we get to Positano from Naples airport?

Naples airport is about 90 minutes away by road in normal traffic, often more in high summer. Most guests book a private transfer; in season a ferry from Naples or Sorrento is a scenic alternative.

Is there a minimum stay in July and August?

Yes. In high season most villas rent by the week, Saturday to Saturday. Shorter stays are sometimes possible in June; we ask the owner when you enquire.

How does booking work?

Choose up to five villas and send one request with your dates. A member of our team checks availability and price with each owner and replies within one working day. Nothing is confirmed until you agree.
