Positano's beaches are grey pebble and shelve quickly into deep, clear water. Pack water shoes for the rocks and bathing platforms.
Private beach lifts and most beach clubs operate from late spring to autumn. Outside those months, the water is still reachable by stairs.
The clear water along the cliffs holds fish and sea urchins close to shore. A mask is worth bringing for children and adults alike.

Is the beach private?
In Italy the shoreline itself is public, so a beach reached from a villa may also be used by others arriving by sea. The access, whether lift, stair or path, is private to the property.
When do the beach lifts run?
The private lifts at these villas operate from mid May to mid October. Earlier or later in the year, ask us about the alternative route and we will check with each owner.
