Lake Como villas with their own way into the lake
On Lake Como a beach rarely means sand. It means a pebble shore below the garden, a stone jetty warmed by the sun or a ladder into clear, deep water. Few villas have this kind of direct access, and those that do are the ones where days are measured by swims, boat trips and drinks on the dock.
There are nine such villas below. At Lezzeno, a house reached by 65 cobbled steps has a pool and garden gates onto a pebble beach. At Pianello del Lario, one house has a walkway to a small pebble beach, while another has a heated pool at the water's edge with its own jetty, mooring buoy and slipway. At Torno, terraced gardens lead down to a private dock.

The lake takes all summer to warm, so swimming is most comfortable from late July into early September.
With a private dock or mooring, a hired boat can collect you at the villa for lunch across the lake.
The shore drops away quickly in many places, so confident swimmers will be happiest and children need close watching.

Questions before you choose
Are there sandy beaches on Lake Como?
Very few. Most swimming spots are pebble shores, lidos or jetties. The villas below give you a private way into the lake, which is the real luxury here.
Can we moor a hired boat at the villa?
Where a villa has a dock, jetty or buoy, usually yes. We ask the owner about mooring, size limits and any conditions before you book a boat.
What happens after we enquire?
We check your dates and price with the owners of up to five villas you choose and come back within one working day. In summer, most of these houses let Saturday to Saturday.
