Villas by the sea on the Amalfi Coast
On the Amalfi Coast the mountains fall almost straight into the water, so true beach access is rare and much prized. Most beaches here are small coves of pebble and dark sand, reached by long stairways or by boat, which is exactly why a house with its own way down changes the whole holiday.
The villas below have been chosen for that way down. One is a medieval watchtower on a sheer cliff east of Maiori, with a path to a private cove; another stands above Marina di Albori with a lemon garden and a path to the beach. At Conca dei Marini a stone platform steps straight into the sea, and in Amalfi a private staircase of about 40 steps leads to Salicerchie beach. Expect early swims before the boats arrive, then long lunches in the shade.

Coves here are mostly pebble and dark sand. Pack water shoes, and expect clear, deep water close to shore rather than long shallow beaches.
In the warmer months ferries link Salerno, Amalfi and Positano, and a small hired boat is often the quickest way between coves.
Private access usually means stairs, from a few dozen to more than 150. Ask us about the climb at each house before you choose.

Questions before you choose
When is the sea warm enough to swim?
Most people swim from June to late September, and the water often stays pleasant into early October. May can be bright, but the sea is still cool. Villa pools are usually open from May to October.
How do we reach the Amalfi Coast?
Naples airport is the usual arrival point, roughly 90 minutes to two hours by car to the central coast. Trains also run to Salerno, from where ferries and the coastal road continue along the shore.
How does booking a villa work?
Choose up to five villas and send one enquiry with your dates. A member of our team checks availability and price with each house and replies within one working day. In high season most stays run Saturday to Saturday.
