Confraternities walk in procession through the villages, bells mark the days from Palm Sunday to Easter morning, and families bake pastiera for the feast. It is a season for walking and for long lunches rather than beaches, and the coast is green, quiet and scented with lemon blossom.
Warmth matters at this time of year, and several of the villas below provide it. In Castiglione di Ravello a 19th century house has a heated swim spa at its best viewpoint and an infrared sauna in a natural grotto. Is Easter a good time to visit the Amalfi Coast?
Yes, if your priorities are walking, food and quiet towns. The sea is usually too cool for long swims, and some beach services only open in May.
Will ferries be running?
Seasonal ferries along the coast usually resume around Easter or in April, with fewer departures than in summer. Buses and private drivers run all year.
Can we reserve for Easter week only?
