Sea view villas on the Amalfi Coast
The Amalfi Coast faces south across the Gulf of Salerno, so almost every house built on its cliffs looks over open water. What changes is the angle. From Ravello, the view falls from a great height over Minori and Maiori; from Praiano it runs west to Positano and the Li Galli islands; from Vietri it takes in the long curve of the gulf towards Salerno.
Many of the 65 villas below were built to watch the sea. There are two old towers, a medieval watchtower on a cliff east of Maiori and a 16th century Saracen tower at Vietri sul Mare. Praiano offers five sea view bedrooms with private terraces, and in Castiglione di Ravello the heated swim spa stands at the best viewpoint of a 19th century house.

Watchtowers were built along this shore to warn of raids from the sea; several now form part of private houses with the widest views.
A villa close to the water feels part of the sea; one high on the terraces sees the coast as a whole. Tell us which you prefer.
Summer haze can soften distant views. In April, May and October the air is often clear enough to see Capri from the coast.

Questions before you choose
Does every bedroom have a sea view?
Every villa on this page looks towards the sea, though not every bedroom does. If a view from bed matters, tell us and we will check the layout with the owner.
Are sea view villas far from the water?
Many views come from height, which can mean steps or a drive down. Some villas here have private paths, stairs or platforms to the sea; we note the access for each one.
What is the best way to arrive?
Fly into Naples, or take a high speed train to Salerno. From Salerno, ferries run in season to Amalfi and Positano, a fine first look at the coast from the water.
