Gathering a large party under one roof suits Lake Como well. The great houses along its shores were built for extended families and their guests, with long dining rooms, boathouses and gardens where several generations can spread out without ever feeling crowded.
Every villa below has six bedrooms or more. At Blevio, two 18th century lakefront villas stand in a seven acre park with 14 bedrooms between them. In Como itself, a neoclassical house of 1772 has 11 bedrooms and a garden gate opening onto the lakeside promenade, while at Menaggio a 19th century house with 10 bedrooms has an octagonal pool ringed by marble columns, with breakfast and dinner cooked in house. The largest, a 16th century palace at Torno, has 17 bedrooms.

Questions before you choose
Do large villas include a cook?
Some do, such as the Menaggio house where breakfast and dinner are cooked in house. For others we can ask the owner whether a cook can be arranged and on what terms.
Can a group of friends book, not only a family?
Yes, although some owners set conditions for groups of adults. We share each owner's house rules with you before you confirm.
How far ahead should a large group enquire?
As early as possible, since houses of this size are few. Choose up to five, send one request and we will reply within one working day. Summer stays usually run Saturday to Saturday.
