Summer on Ischia, villas with thermal pools
Ischia is the larger, greener and more relaxed neighbour of Capri, a volcanic island where hot springs rise from the ground and gardens flourish on the slopes of Monte Epomeo. Summer here means sandy beaches such as the Maronti, sunsets over the west coast at Forio, dinners of rabbit cooked the island way, and days that begin and end in warm mineral water.
Many of the villas below draw on that heat: west facing houses near Forio with pools of 32°C thermal water, and a house for two above the port whose infinity pool meets the horizon. For larger parties there is a countess's mansion with 12 bedrooms on its own promontory above live fumaroles, facing the sea from Capri to Procida.

This long stretch of sand on the south coast is warmed by fumaroles in places, and water taxis run to it from the village of Sant'Angelo.
The west coast faces the open sea. From the terrace of the Soccorso church in Forio, the sun sets straight into the water.
In high summer a warm thermal pool is best enjoyed early or late in the day, with plenty of drinking water between dips.

Questions before you choose
How do we get to Ischia?
Fly to Naples, then take a ferry or hydrofoil from Naples or Pozzuoli to Ischia Porto, Casamicciola or Forio. On the island, taxis and buses follow the coast road.
What is the minimum stay in summer?
From June to August villas on Ischia generally rent Saturday to Saturday, for a week or more. Include up to five in a single enquiry and we answer within one working day.
Is Ischia good for couples?
Very much so. Several houses on this page are built for two, with a single bedroom and a private thermal pool looking out to sea.
