Few places celebrate the harvest like Umbria. In the Montefalco hills the Sagrantino grapes are picked, the olive groves between Assisi and Spoleto are stripped by hand and the mills run late into the night, and the truffle season begins: black truffles in the woods of the Valnerina and prized white truffles in the upper Tiber valley and around Gubbio.

When is truffle season in Umbria?
White truffles are found mainly in October and November, and black truffles from late autumn through the winter. Availability depends on the weather each year.
Can we still swim in October?
Early October can be warm, and outdoor pools usually stay open until the end of the month. Some houses also have heated indoor pools for cooler days.
