The Valle d'Itria sits on a limestone plateau above the Adriatic, and in summer that height brings a breeze and cooler nights than the coast below. Trulli with conical stone roofs dot the vineyards and dry stone walls, and the white towns of Locorotondo, Cisternino and Ostuni fill with people once the heat lifts. The beaches are a short drive down the hill.

In Cisternino and Martina Franca some butchers grill meat to order in the evening; you choose at the counter and eat at tables outside.
Spend the morning on the coast at Savelletri or Torre Canne, then return inland as the air cools for an evening in the towns.
The white town is at its loveliest after sunset, when the lanes of the old centre are lit and the cathedral square fills.

How close are the villas to the sea?
It varies. Some are on the coast near Monopoli or Savelletri; hill villas around Ostuni or Cisternino are usually 15 to 30 minutes by car from the beaches. Each listing shows the distance.
Which airport is closest?
Brindisi is closest to Ostuni and Carovigno, Bari to Monopoli, Alberobello and Locorotondo. Both are within about an hour of most villas in the valley, and a car is necessary.
What is the minimum stay in summer?
From June to August most villas rent Saturday to Saturday for a week or more. Pools here are generally open from May until October. You can enquire about up to five villas in one request.
