Family villas in the Valle d'Itria and Ostuni
Children tend to love the Valle d'Itria before they can explain why. The trulli look drawn for them, the old towns are white and largely free of cars, and the countryside is crossed by dry stone walls that make every drive feel like a game. The coast below offers sandy beaches and rock pools, and the hills bring cooler nights for better sleep.
Each of the 35 villas below has three bedrooms or more and a pool, beach or family equipment. There is a seafront villa near Monopoli with direct access to the beach, a tufa stone villa near Polignano a Mare where every bedroom has its own door to the outside, and a hillside villa above Monopoli with a restored trullo annex.

Where a villa has a trullo annex, it makes a memorable bedroom for older children, with round stone walls and a conical roof.
The dune coast between Fasano and Ostuni has sandy stretches and shallow water that suit small children.
Each town holds a weekly market; children enjoy the stalls of cheese, fruit and toys, and it is an easy way into local life.

Questions before you choose
Is a car needed with children?
Almost always. Villas lie in the countryside and public transport between towns is limited. Book child seats with the hire car, and allow for narrow lanes between stone walls near the villas.
Can we bring grandparents who find stairs difficult?
Many masserie and villas have ground floor bedrooms, but trulli and old towns can involve steps. Tell us about any mobility needs and we check the layout with each owner.
How long do families usually stay?
In high season most villas rent Saturday to Saturday, and many families stay a week or two. Expect the pool to be open between May and October. One request can cover up to five villas, answered within one working day.
