Chianti offers a wedding that looks like Tuscany in its purest form: a line of cypresses, a stone farmhouse, vines running down the slope towards a valley. Florence and Siena are both close, so guests who arrive a few days early have a city to explore, while the celebration itself stays in the calm of the countryside.
The 40 villas below accept events, subject to each owner's conditions. At Impruneta the Ghirlandaio family's 15th century estate has a chapel frescoed by Ridolfo Ghirlandaio, vineyards and a lake; near Tavarnelle Val di Pesa a farmhouse among century old olive trees opens its old farmyard into a stone walled, arched hall with a fireplace; and above Figline Valdarno a 16th century ducal estate looks over vineyards and cypress woods to the Apennines.

Spring and autumn can bring a shower. A stone hall, loggia or covered terrace means the dinner goes ahead whatever the sky does.

Questions before you choose
What rules do villa owners set for weddings?
Each owner decides the maximum number of guests, whether amplified music is allowed, the time the celebration ends and whether caterers must be approved. We check these conditions before you plan anything further.
Can we marry in the villa's chapel?
Some estates have private chapels, but a religious ceremony depends on the parish and the diocese. We ask the owner what has been possible before and share it with you.
How early should we enquire?
For May, June and September, a year ahead is sensible, as the most sought after estates are reserved early. Add up to five villas to one request; we reply within one working day.
