Family villas in Sardinia, by shallow bays
Sardinia may be the easiest Italian island for young children. Many beaches shelve so gently that toddlers can paddle far from the shore, the water is clear enough to watch fish around their ankles, and Olbia airport is a short drive from much of the north east coast.
The villas below all have space for a family and a pool or beach within reach. At Badesi, a sandy path runs 150 m from the garden to 8 km of white sand. At Capo Coda Cavallo, a house overlooks the Salina Bamba lagoon, with an infinity pool and hot tub facing the sea. Above Porto San Paolo, a garden house around a 20 m pool looks across to Tavolara and Molara, and at Torre delle Stelle steps lead down to the sand.

The bays of the north east, around San Teodoro and Capo Coda Cavallo, are famous for water that stays shallow and calm.
Most of the north east coast lies within an hour of Olbia airport, which keeps the first and last days simple.
Excursions to Tavolara and the La Maddalena islands offer swimming stops in clear water. Pick a calm day and bring hats.

Questions before you choose
Which months suit families best?
June and September offer warm sea and fewer crowds. July and August are hotter and livelier. Pools normally run from May until October.
Can the villa provide cots and high chairs?
Many owners can, but not all. Tell us your children's ages in your enquiry and we ask each owner about cots, high chairs and pool safety.
How does booking work?
Every stay is confirmed by hand. Send your dates and up to five villas at once, and a person checks with each owner and replies within one working day.
