Dolomites, the ski season

Ski villas in the Dolomites, close to the slopes

The Dolomites offer some of the most beautiful skiing in the world. One pass, Dolomiti Superski, opens a dozen ski areas, and the Sella Ronda circuit lets strong skiers loop around a single massif in a day. The pistes are long and well groomed, the mountain huts serve dumplings and strudel in the sun, and the rock towers above are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The chalets below sit close to the lifts. In Arabba, a restored alpine farmstead has direct access to the Dolomiti Superski slopes and its own heliport. Above Selva, a hilltop chalet faces the Sella massif and Sassolungo, with a hotel's pools and spa at its door, and in Cortina a 250 sq m residence has a wellness suite of sauna, Turkish bath and jacuzzi.

Lunch in a rifugio

Mountain huts on the pistes serve Tyrolean and Ladin dishes, from canederli to apple strudel, on sunny terraces.

Choose March for light

January brings the coldest, quietest snow, February the busiest weeks, and March long sunny days with softer slopes.

Good to know

Questions before you choose

When is the ski season in the Dolomites?

Lifts usually open in early December and run until early April, depending on snow and altitude. January and March tend to be calmer than the February holiday weeks.

Can the chalets arrange ski passes and instructors?

Owners often have local contacts for ski schools, equipment and passes. Tell us your party and levels, and we will ask each owner what they can organise.

How do we book a ski chalet?

Send your dates and up to five chalets in one enquiry. We confirm availability and price with every owner and answer within one working day; winter stays often run Saturday to Saturday.
