A private house in San Niccolò, enclosed by ancient walls and a lush garden, on the site of an 18th century convent. Part Scottish country house, part Florentine residence, with Hermès scarves on the walls and velvet sofas designed by Giacomo Balla.
Inside
A sitting room with a fireplace, a second adjoining sitting room, a dining room with a large table and a kitchen with a round table opening to the garden. Upstairs, four doubles: the master with a covered terrace, a pink room en suite with bath and shower, two rooms sharing a bathroom, and an attic room with a mezzanine and shower room.
Outside
The walled garden grows roses, camellias, irises and lavender among evergreens and statues. A courtyard is furnished with chairs and sofas, a veranda looks over the garden, and the master bedroom has its own covered terrace.
Location
In San Niccolò, in the Oltrarno. Restaurants, bars and bakeries lie just below the house. The Boboli Gardens are 800 m away, Piazzale Michelangelo a 10 minute walk and the Ponte Vecchio about 10 minutes on foot. Florence Airport is 15 km away.
